Knights Select Tompson to Be Football Coach

As expected, Bob Tompson was named football coach at Bishop Montgomery High this week, replacing Steve Carroll, who had resigned.

The Times reported Sunday that Tompson, 33, had been offered the job and would most likely accept it.

Tompson, a former assistant at St. Bernard and El Camino College, will also be a full-time teacher at the school. He coached Pius X of Downey to a 7-2-1 record last season, but the team was forced to forfeit six victories and a tie because several players were academically ineligible.
