A mild earthquake rattled Southern California’s low desert Friday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The 1:13 p.m. jolt measured 3.5 on the Richter scale and was centered 9 miles north-northeast of Borrego Springs in eastern San Diego County, said Robert Finn, spokesman for the California Institute of Technology seismology laboratory in Pasadena.

Police in Palms Springs and sheriff’s deputies in Borrego Springs said they had received no reports of injury or damage. Finn said he received reports that the quake was felt by some people.
