Kenwood Don Wins Cypress Final
Kenwood Don held off a strong late bid by Handiboy and Pilgrim’s Spur to win the $30,000 Cypress Series final Wednesday night at Los Alamitos Race Course.
The 5-year-old New Zealand-bred gelding led almost from the start to record a length victory in a lifetime best 1:54 for driver Joe Anderson and trainer Frank Ranaldi.
Kenwood Don was challenged every step of the final half by Handiboy, driven by Ross Croghan. The winner paid $4.40 as the second choice in the betting.
