L.A. Fiesta Broadway

More than 500,000 revelers are expected in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. for the third annual L.A. Fiesta Broadway, a celebration of Latino culture.

The pre-Cinco de Mayo fiesta will cover 36 city blocks and cause a number of street closings. Traffic will not be allowed from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday from Temple Street on the north, Olympic Boulevard on the south, Main Street on the east and Olive Street on the west from Olympic Boulevard to 6th Street. Olive will be open between 6th and 1st streets.

The north-south streets nearest to the fiesta area that will be completely open are Los Angeles Street and Grand Avenue.

The event is sponsored by KMEX-TV/Channel 34, Univision, the city of Los Angeles and Miracle on Broadway, a public and private partnership dedicated to restoring a historic 10-block downtown corridor.

Seven entertainment stages will be sponsored by Chevron and Ford Motors at 4th and Spring streets, KCBS-TV and Coca-Cola at 2nd and Spring streets, AT&T; at 7th and Hill streets, Viva Markets at 9th and Hill streets, and KMEX/Univision, Pepsi, Pizza Hut and Universal Studios at Olympic Boulevard and Broadway, Budweiser at 1st street and Broadway and Target at 6th and Spring streets.

Attractions will include the Health and Beauty Fair and Los Ninos Play Park at 2nd Street and Broadway and the World Cup Sports Center at Broadway between 2nd and 3rd streets. Food and beverages will be sold.
