Nearly $1 million worth of marijuana was seized in South San Diego by narcotics detectives who also arrested four drug suspects, police said Friday.

Acting on a tip, authorities stopped two cars at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of Palm Avenue and seized 160 pounds of marijuana from one of the cars, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. Officers then discovered another 400 pounds of marijuana at a residence in the 1700 block of Isla del Carmen Way in San Ysidro, police said.

Also discovered in the search was a loaded semi-automatic pistol, $15,000 cash and a rifle, Robinson said. The 560 pounds of marijuana were seized, processed and placed in the narcotics vault at the San Diego police headquarters, Robinson said.
