Rancho Buena Vista 4, Orange Glen 0--In a game that finished before the softball game--in 1 hour, 15 minutes--junior right-hander Eric Seckner, who has given up just one earned run in 43 1/3 innings for a 0.16 ERA, pitched a two-hitter. In RBV’s three-run fourth, Fune Moi’s bases-loaded single drove in two runs, Orange Glen turned a double play, then Mark Pallotto doubled in the final run of the game. The Longhorns improved to 11-7-1, 5-1.

San Dieguito 5, Fallbrook 3--Cole Liniak blasted three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for the Mustangs (8-11, 2-4). San Dieguito’s Terrin Durley scattered nine hits, walked two and struck out two. For Fallbrook (8-8, 2-4), Steve Park went two for four with an RBI and Jabe Marsh was two for two with an RBI.

Torrey Pines 6, Mt. Carmel 5--Torrey Pines broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the sixth when third baseman Nate Wagner singled, stole second and third and scored on Matt Nierum’s chopper to the catcher. Ryan Lynch went two for three with an RBI for the Falcons (4-8-1, 3-3).

Avocado League

Rancho Bernardo 7, Oceanside 4--Tied 3-3, a double by Jim Reardon to right center scored three Rancho Bernardo runs in the six-run fifth. Kevin Keefe (1-2) came in in the fourth and struck out four for the Broncos (8-8, 4-2).

Carlsbad 8, Ramona 4--With two stolen bases against Ramona, Tim Mulligan upped his season total to a county-leading 27. His were only a portion of the 14 Carlsbad stole as a team, with none caught stealing. Mulligan also picked up two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Jade Copple was three for four, scored a pair of runs and stole four bases for Carlsbad (8-11, 2-4). Ramona fell to 5-11, 1-5.

Escondido 12, San Pasqual 2--Senior catcher Nick Terrazas knocked in three runs for Escondido (10-7, 6-0).

El Camino 8, San Marcos 7--Ryan Whitson’s two-run triple climaxed the five-run fourth inning for El Camino (7-11, 3-3). Whitson was two for four.

Grossmont 3-A League

Granite Hills 4, Mt. Miguel 3--In a busy seventh, Jim Rodgers leadoff solo home run for Mt. Miguel knotted the game at 3-3. At the bottom of the inning, with two out, Eric Tart pinch ran for Chad Bruchett, who got on on a walk, and Eric Nelson doubled him home for the winning run. Granite Hills improved to 10-6, 1-1.

Metro Conference

Montgomery 6, Chula Vista 2--Steve Quinteros allowed one hit through six innings, Jacob Sanchez’ two-run homer in the first, which scored a Chula Vista runner who reached on an error. After the home run, Quinteros (3-1) and David Silva retired the next 19 batters in order. For top-ranked Montgomery (16-3, 7-0) Oscar Robles was three for four, scored twice and stole three bases and teammate Eduardo Duarte picked up two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs.

Nonleague

USDHS 2, Carson City (Nev.) 1--Give No.4 USDHS the moral victory too, as the Dons’ play Mission Bay, 9-5 losers to Carson City Thursday, in a key Western League game this morning (11 a.m.) at University of San Diego. Against the Senators (20-3), senior right fielder Erin Blair’s triples drove in USDHS’s fourth and seventh inning runs. Senior left hander Bob Reiter struck out 8 for the Dons (14-3).

Coastal League

Francis Parker 16, La Jolla Country Day 10--Andrew Ruff was two for four with three RBIs, Charles Pope went three for six with an RBI, Chris Sheridan went two for four with two RBIs and Devlin Millay was two for five with two RBIs in the six-run ninth for Parker (7-5, 4-1).

SOFTBALL

Avocado League

San Pasqual 3, Escondido 2--San Pasqual broke Escondido’s 32-game winning streak, which dated back to the 1991 season. The Eagles (11-4, 5-1) scored three early runs off Escondido’s Marquessa Penrod, ending her 10-game winning streak. San Pasqual’s junior right hander Erin Combe gave up one earned run en route to her ninth victory in a row. In her first at bats in a month, Combe tripled and singled. In the bottom of the seventh, with the tying run on third with one out, Eagles senior shortstop Paloma Vanderzanden stopped a ball in the hole, threw the runner out at first and froze the runner at third. To end the game, Cristina Marquez backhanded a ball in right center field for San Pasqual (11-4, 5-1). Escondido fell to 14-1, 5-1.
