A Guide to the Best of Southern California : DESIGN : Get a Grip
- Share via
A relatively new movement in bathroom design marries industrial materials to neo-primitive shapes. If you find such Stone-Age simplicity appealing, then Venice designer David Hertz has a soap dish for you.
The square-shaped soap holders have nine aluminum rod grippers and are made out Syndecrete, a synthetic material that simulates concrete or rock. Hertz says the material enhances “the Zen-like beauty” of Los Angeles’ ubiquitous cement. The soap dishes, $20, are a perfect match for a line of same-size soaps by Mottura.
David Hertz’s soap holders, distributed by Mottura, are available at Jumping Dog, Suite 138, Century City Shopping Center, 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles; (310) 282-8004.
