A 19-year-old Wilmington man, who cut through a padlocked fence and stole a black-and-white sheriff’s truck to escape from a jail in Castaic, was rearrested Monday night, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.

Kenneth L. Satterfield was found near a junkyard in the 900 block of Foote Avenue in Wilmington by Los Angeles police, Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Stoneman said. Satterfield, who was assigned to the nursery crew at the Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho, was discovered missing from the facility about 1 a.m. Sunday, Stoneman said.

Stoneman said authorities believe that Satterfield broke into the nursery and stole keys to the truck from inside a locked desk, then used “some sort of tool” to cut through a padlocked fence.
