A teen-ager was fatally shot on the campus of Charles Drew Junior High School on Tuesday after an argument with another boy, authorities said.
Hector Salazar, 13, died after being taken to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center in critical condition with two gunshot wounds to the head, investigators said.
The boy was confronted by another boy shortly after 3 p.m. on the campus at 8511 South Compton Ave., Los Angeles Unified School District police said. An argument followed, the alleged assailant pulled a semiautomatic weapon and fired at least five shots, investigators said.
After the shooting, the victim was pulled into a classroom, school police said. The suspect fled on foot and was still at large.
The victim may have been a former student at the school, a school district spokeswoman said.
