SPORTS ON WEEKEND TV : NBA Playoffs, the Preakness

The futures of at least 11 NBA lottery teams and two playoff teams could be decided Sunday while 14 of horse racing’s top three-year olds are scheduled to run in the second jewel of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown today, highlighting the weekend.

Pro basketball: If Game 7 of the Boston Celtics-Cleveland Cavaliers Eastern Conference semifinal series is necessary, it will be aired Sunday on NBC (Channels 4, 36, and 39) at 11 a.m. The Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks will play Game 7 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series Sunday at either 12:30 or 1:30 p.m., depending on if Boston and Cleveland play. Game 1 of the Portland Trail Blazers-Utah Jazz Western Conference final series will air today at 12:30 p.m. on NBC.

The NBA’s draft lottery will be conducted at halftime of the Bulls-Knicks game.

Horse racing: ABC (Channel’s 7, 3, 10 and 42) will cover the Preakness Stakes beginning at 1:30 p.m. today. Post time is 2:38 p.m. ESPN will have an hour-long Preakness Stakes preview special from 10 to 11 a.m., including the $150,000 Maryland Budweiser Breeders Cup.

Baseball: KTLA will air games between the Angels and Red Sox Sox today at noon and Sunday at 10 a.m. The Dodgers will play the New York Mets Sunday at 1 p.m. on SportsChannel. ESPN’s 5 p.m. Sunday game will match the Texas Rangers and Milwaukee Brewers.

Golf: The Mazda LPGA Championship will air at 10 a.m. today on Channels 4, 36 and 39. Sunday’s final round will be shown at 9 a.m. if a Celtics-Cavaliers game is necessary, 10 a.m. if it is not.

Sailing: America 3can wrap up its defense of the America’s Cup with a win over Italy’s Il Moro di Venezia at noon today on ESPN. If Race No. 6 is necessary, it airs at noon Sunday on ESPN.

Pro Hockey: In the NHL playoffs, the Chicago Blackhawks will play host to the Edmonton Oilers in Game 1 of the Campbell Conference finals today at 5:30 p.m. on SportsChannel. The Boston Bruins will travel to Pittsburgh for Game 1 of the Wales Conference final against the Penguins at 4:30 p.m. Sunday on SportsChannel.
