Two men have died in separate shootings in East San Diego, police said.

In the first shooting Wednesday night, Jimmie Ray Kittling, 50, died about 45 minutes after collapsing at the wheel of his parked pickup with a gunshot wound in the back, said San Diego police Lt. Paul Ybarrondo.

Kittling, a newspaper deliveryman, was seated in his truck in the 4700 block of Nogal Street in East San Diego about 9 p.m. when he was shot once in the upper back, Ybarrondo said.

He drove his pickup about four blocks, to the curb in front of a service station on 47th Street, where he collapsed, Ybarrondo said.
