SAN DIEGO : Man Wounded in Drive-By Shooting
A man was wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting east of downtown Monday night, and police were searching for two cars that fled the scene, authorities said.
The victim, identified only as a male Latino, suffered gunshot wounds in the neck and back and may have been beaten with a baseball bat and struck by a car, said San Diego Police Lt. Tom Orden.
Nonetheless, the victim’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Orden said. An ambulance transported the man to UC San Diego Medical Center after the attack, which occurred shortly before 8:18 p.m. in the 3700 block of T Street, authorities said.
Witnesses described the assailants as two black men, one armed with a pistol and the other with a shotgun, police said. Police were looking for a gray station wagon and a Chevrolet Caprice that were apparently involved in the incident, Orden said.
