DOLLAR DAY: After months of numbers crunching, county budget officials today are expected to give the supervisors their final budget proposal for the coming fiscal year. . . . “These are the deepest budget cuts we’ve probably ever had to make,” says budget director Ronald S. Rubino. The staff hopes to save $23 million by reducing retirement system reserves, and cutting 270 positions, which could mean layoffs. A June 16 hearing is scheduled on the proposals.
