AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL ROUNDUP : LaCour Leads Valley North to Victory, 11-4

Bryan LaCour homered, doubled and singled, scored three runs and drove in two to lead Valley North to an 11-4 victory over Van Nuys West in an American Legion District 20 game at Chatsworth.

Eric Holliday (2-0) of Valley (4-0) allowed five hits and struck out five. Van Nuys fell to 2-1.

In other District 20 games:

San Fernando 9, Encino 8--Relief pitcher Raymond Rivera retired two of the three batters he faced with bases loaded and one out in the seventh to preserve the victory for San Fernando (4-1) at Valley College.

Rene Rodriguez went three for four with three runs batted in for San Fernando, and teammates Ethan Rodriguez and Lenny Avalos each had two hits. Encino’s Casey Snow went three for four.

Woodland Hills East 10, Woodland Hills West 8--A sacrifice fly by Adam Shotland brought in Matt Allison with the winning run and capped a three-run East rally in the seventh inning. Gabe Kapler hit a grand slam for East (3-2) and Stacy Kleiner tripled. Randy Wolf had three hits for West (1-2).

Agoura 6, West Hills 4--Ed Gillis went three for four with two RBIs to pace Agoura (1-3). Damin Sterling added two doubles. Ryan Graves went three for four with two RBIs for West Hills.

Granada Hills West 11, Las Virgenes 1--Julio Marcial, Heath McElwee, Rob Vasquez, and Dave Cipolla each had two hits for Granada Hills in a five-inning game.

Panorama City 7, Reseda-Cleveland 2--Tim Shoemake, Russell Ortiz and Steve Klein each had two hits for Panorama City (5-1).

Van Nuys-Notre Dame 3, Sun Valley 2--Marlon McKinney drove in two runs for Sun Valley with two out in the seventh, but Chris Leveque pitched out of the jam for Van Nuys (4-0), preserving the victory for Chris Garza. Ryan Stromsborg homered for Van Nuys.
