San Diego : 18-Year-Old Gets 25 Years for Murder

Share

An 18-year-old woman was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years to life in state prison for her role in murdering a pregnant woman who may have planned to reveal a plot to kill a drug dealer.

Anna Humiston was a 17-year-old Patrick Henry High School student when she participated in the murder of Terry Holloway, 26, who was killed May 15, 1991.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Mark Pettine said Humiston became a suspect in the murder after she bragged to her friends at school that she held the victim while 20-year-old Robert Jurado strangled her.

Jurado, 20, is awaiting sentencing for his guilty plea to first-degree murder and conspiracy. However, the California Supreme Court has yet to decide on the issue of a special circumstance of lying in wait, which could make him eligible for the death penalty.

A third defendant, 22-year-old Denise Shigemura, pleaded guilty to murder and is serving a state prison sentence of 25 years to life.

A jury convicted Humiston of first-degree murder in January, the day before she turned 18.
