Man-Woman Robbery Team Hits People Making Bank Deposits

Share

San Diego police say a man-and-woman team of armed robbers has been holding up people as they approach banks to make deposits.

Ten robberies believed committed by the pair since April 22 have occurred outside bank branches in San Carlos, Del Cerro, Allied Gardens, Clairemont, Tierrasanta, Mira Mesa, Kearny Mesa and Rancho Bernardo, said police spokesman Dave Cohen. A robbery by the same pair also was committed in El Cajon, he said.

In most cases, victims openly carried merchant deposit bags as they approached bank entrances, Cohen said. They were confronted either by the armed man or woman, who took the bag and fled to a waiting vehicle, he said.

Victims have described the man as white, 25 years old, 6 feet tall, 175 pounds, with short brown hair cut in a flat top. The woman was described as white, between 25 and 35 years old, between 5-2 and 5-6, 130 pounds, with dark-brown, straight shoulder-length hair and a pockmarked face.

The pair has been seen driving a 1970s copper, burgundy or brown four-door car, a blue pickup and a white Datsun 240Z.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the crimes to call 235-TIPS.
