Rafael Ruelas to Fight Gutierrez
Lightweight Rafael Ruelas of Arleta will try to avenge his only loss and Frank Liles of Sherman Oaks and Tim Littles of Detroit will match unbeaten records in a super-middleweight bout tonight at the Hollywood Palladium.
Ruelas, 31-1 with 25 knockouts, lost to Mauro Gutierrez of Tijuana last July when he was knocked down during the second round and then counted out when he misunderstood the referee’s count while waiting on one knee. Gutierrez is 47-16-5.
Liles, ranked No. 6 by the World Boxing Council, is 21-0 with 14 knockouts. Littles, the U.S. Boxing Assn. champion, is 17-0 with 13 knockouts.
Also on the card is a junior-welterweight bout between Greg Haugen (30-4-1) of Las Vegas and Panchito Lopez (15-4) of Tucson.
The card is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m.
