Three former Orange County prep standouts were among the 20 selected to play on the U.S. Olympic soccer team that opens the 15-country tournament July 24 against Italy. Chosen for the team were defender Mike Lapper of Marina High School and midfielders Joe-Max Moore of Mission Viejo and Rhett Harty of Servite. Lapper and Moore were joined by three teammates from UCLA’s 1990 NCAA championship team: goalkeeper Brad Friedel and midfielders Chris Henderson and Cobi Jones. Others chosen from Southern California were goalkeeper Ian Feuer of Los Angeles, defender Cam Rast of Simi Valley and midfielder Yari Allnutt of San Diego.
