Two Adults, Two Children Killed in Murder-Suicide

Four people, including two young children, were found dead in their home in the Riverside County community of Moreno Valley on Tuesday, the result of what authorities described as a murder-suicide growing out of a child custody dispute.

The dead were identified as Daniel Rudela, 25; his girlfriend, Vanessa Angelo, 28, and Rudela’s two boys, Lance, 3, and Drake, 11 months, said Riverside County Deputy Coroner Ken Nugent.

The deaths came after Rudela lost a custody battle for Lance on Monday in Riverside Superior Court to his ex-wife, Moreno Valley police said.

“There was a suicide pact, and the father and his female companion were shot to death,” police said. Investigators declined to say how the children were killed.

A call to police from Rudela’s former wife, Lance’s mother, sent officers to the house on Delphinium Street, where they found all four dead. Rudela, Angelo and the two boys had lived in the rented house only four weeks, police said.
