From Staff and Wire Reports
A $4.25-million lawsuit has been filed in Dunn, N.C., against the Watkins Glen race track in New York and NASCAR on behalf of the widow of driver J.D. McDuffie Jr.
The suit maintains that Turn 5 and the barrier at the track are dangerous and were the direct cause of McDuffie’s death on Aug. 11, 1991. McDuffie, of Sanford, N.C., died when his car hit the barrier during a NASCAR-sanctioned race.
