‘Mo’ Money’ Takes In Most Money

Share

Three of the weekend’s Top 5 movies are headlined by African-American stars, a rare, if not unprecedented situation in Hollywood. In first place was “Mo’ Money,” headed by Damon Wayans (of TV’s “In Living Color”). The movie, trounced by many critics for lameness and insensitivity, nevertheless, pushed “Honey, I Blew Up the Kid” to second place.

Whoopi Goldberg’s “Sister Act” hit a whopping $105 million while grosses for Eddie Murphy’s “Boomerang” took a sharp 44% drop.

* There was no saving “Mom and Dad Save the World,” which Warner Bros. had long delayed releasing. It proved an outright flop.
