The New York Jets aren’t taking any chances with three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Al Toon, who experienced what the team called heart palpitations during practice this week.

The Jets said Toon’s immediate prognosis is favorable after a battery of tests conducted this week. However, Toon, 29, did not practice Friday and will not play in today’s exhibition opener against the Washington Redskins at Giants Stadium.

Backup quarterback Steve Beuerlein threw two second-half touchdown passes and Brad Daluiso kicked a 24-yard field goal with 10 seconds left to give the Dallas Cowboys a 27-24 exhibition victory over the Dolphins at Miami.

Beuerlein completed 14 of 18 passes for 216 yards to bring Dallas back after Miami took a 21-7 halftime lead behind quarterback Dan Marino, who completed 16 of 17 for 163 yards and a touchdown.
