A fire that started after a man left a propane torch on in the bathroom of a Santa Clarita mobile home caused more than $100,000 damage, county fire authorities said Sunday.

The fire in the 27000 block of Sierra Highway started shortly before midnight Saturday when a man working on bathroom pipes with a propane torch left the room momentarily, leaving the torch unattended, authorities said.

The mobile home went up in flames and was totally consumed by the fire. The blaze did $80,000 damage to the structure and $25,000 damage to the contents, a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher said.

About 25 firefighters battled the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other mobile homes in the park, the dispatcher said. It was extinguished in about 15 minutes.

No one was injured in the fire, she said. However, a woman suffered cuts to her hand and was treated by paramedics. She was pounding on a neighbor’s door to warn him of the blaze when her arm went through the door’s window, a neighbor said.
