Emerson Fittipaldi took advantage of slower traffic to maneuver around Michael Andretti early on and led most of the way in winning his third Budweiser Cleveland Grand Prix Indy-car race.

Fittipaldi, who beat Andretti by 16 seconds, averaged 133.292 m.p.h. over the 201.37 miles on the 10-turn temporary course at Burke Lakefront Airport, the fastest speed ever for an Indy-car race on a non-oval track.

It smashed the previous Cleveland record of 128.421 m.p.h., set by Fittipaldi in 1987. He also won the Cleveland race in 1989, and he finished second to Andretti here last year.
