Firefighters Battle Blaze North of Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA — Firefighters battled a wildfire that briefly threatened a resort in Los Padres National Forest on Monday, authorities said.
The Oso II fire blackened 60 to 75 acres of brush about six miles north of Santa Barbara, said Kathy Good of the U.S. Forest Service.
The cause of the blaze is unknown and fire officials were uncertain when it might be contained.
The fire began in Rancho Oso, a private resort, and briefly threatened trailers, barns and other structures on the property. No one at the resort was hurt, Good said.
Meanwhile, large portions of the Ventana Wilderness near Big Sur remained closed as firefighters continued to battle a 900-acre fire set by lost hikers trying to signal for help, the U.S. Forest Service said.
The blaze was 95% contained Monday with full containment expected Wednesday morning, the Forest Service said.
