Light Earthquake Strikes Near Julian
An earthquake rumbled through Julian Tuesday night, but there were no reports of injury or damage, officials said.
The temblor, centered 1 mile southeast of town, occurred at 8:26 p.m. and measured 3.4 on the Richter scale, said Steve Bryant, a spokesman at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.
It was unrelated to a pair of quakes that rocked Southern California June 28, he said. Those temblors measured 7.5 and 6.6 on the Richter scale and were centered near Yucca Valley, about 80 miles north of Julian.
