Twelve people were injured--one of them critically--when a sports car apparently ran a red light and slammed into the side of an RTD bus at Adams and Crenshaw boulevards during the Wednesday evening rush hour, RTD and Fire Department officials said.
The most severely injured in the 5:37 p.m. crash was the driver of the car, who later was reported in critical condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. A passenger in the car and one from the bus were treated at Midway Hospital for serious injuries. Nine others on the bus were said to have minor injuries. Names of the injured were not immediately available.
Witnesses told investigators that the Line 37 bus was heading east on Adams when it was struck by a northbound Porsche that ran the light at Crenshaw, according to RTD spokesman Bill Heard.
