Lenny Dykstra, who suffered a broken left hand sliding into first base during Saturday night’s 4-3 victory over the New York Mets, will be sidelined for the rest of the season, the Philadelphia Phillies said.

The club said he won’t be placed on the disabled list until after he is examined today.

Dykstra went on the disabled list on opening day after he suffered a broken right hand and again on July 3 after he suffered a pulled right hamstring.

Until last season, he had never been on the disabled list until a car accident in which he and teammate Darren Daulton were injured May 6.

Dykstra is batting .301 in 85 games with 39 runs batted in, six homers and a team-leading 30 stolen bases.

If the vote by major league team owners on the Giants’ sale and move to St. Petersburg, Fla., were held today, the transaction would be approved, according to a survey published by the San Francisco Examiner.

The sale must be approved by three-fourths of the teams in the National League--10 votes--and a majority in the American League--eight votes.

The survey found that three of 14 National League teams would vote against the deal. In the American League, two out of 14 team owners would oppose it.

According to the survey, the National League teams that would oppose the deal are the Colorado Rockies, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Diego Padres. The American League teams that would oppose the deal are the Angels and the Texas Rangers.
