A man was shot and seriously wounded during an argument that erupted in the carport of an apartment complex Wednesday.

Luis Clavijo was shot three times in the chest about 4:30 p.m. at the Westminster Chimes apartments in the 9600 block of Westminster Avenue, police said.

“It was the result of an argument,” Sgt. Gary Walker said. “They were drinking in the carport. An argument between the suspect and a third person started and the victim stepped in to break it up. The suspect left the carport area and returned with a gun and shot the man.”
