High Life : Cypress High Yearbook Staff Wins Top Award at Seminar

The 12-member yearbook staff of Cypress High School won first place in a recent competition at the South Coast Yearbook Seminar at UC Santa Barbara.

Cypress competed against 50 schools that were judged on theme, cover design and overall design.

Yearbook staff members at Cypress are Shawn Archuleta, Dani Frattaroli, Kim Hippler, Yuewen Kao, Nicole Kendzierski, Caroline Kim, Allyssa Lee, Karen Lin, Robby Longobardy, Jason Lorber, Brent Tsuda and Beth Zelkovitz.

Advisers are Judy Grady and Craig Herrick.

Antonio Marquez, a June graduate of Santa Ana High School, was awarded a $4,000 Home Savings of America Career Awareness Program scholarship, which also provides a 15-week course that teaches work readiness and basic consumer economics skills.

Marquez maintained a 3.23 grade-point average and will use his scholarship funds at UC Irvine, where he will major in biology.
