The Kansas City Chiefs agreed to a series of three one-year contracts with 13-year veteran Nick Lowery, the most accurate kicker in NFL history.
Running back Christian Okoye, who rushed for 1,031 yards last year, said Friday he was close to signing with Kansas City. Okoye, a holdout during all of training camp, also is rumored to be on the trading block.
“I expect to be in Kansas City,” Okoye said Friday.
Lowery sat out the Chiefs’ training camp at River Falls, Wis., but apparently will play Monday and Friday in Kansas City’s final two exhibition games against Buffalo and Indianapolis at home.
Lowery has made 284 of 358 field goals, a 79.3% accuracy rate. He holds four NFL records, including a record nine 100-point seasons, and 17 team records.
