Ernesto Villegas has been appointed to the board of trustees of the El Monte Union High School District, filling the seat vacated by Bob Brown, who resigned July 1 because he moved out of town.
The term ends in November, 1993.
Villegas, one of eight applicants for the position, owns Villegas Realty in El Monte. He also has been active on the Community Development Advisory Board, El Monte Rotary Club, El Monte Cultural Commission, Rio Hondo College Advisory Committee on Real Estate, Los Angeles County-El Monte Municipal Courthouse Building Corp. and the El Monte/South El Monte Chamber of Commerce.
He is on the board of directors of the San Gabriel Valley Board of Realtors.
Hyewon Han, a student at the Hacienda La Puente Adult Education dog grooming/small animal care vocational class, has won first prize in the novice category at the Western World Pet Supply Assn. trade show and grooming contest. She groomed a poodle and won a $200 prize.
The Rosemead Kiwanis Club has awarded $750 scholarships to five students who graduated from Rosemead High School in June.
They are Amy Graydon, Tricia Guinto, Vivienne Kyle, Tina Tat and Linh Tuyet Trieu. They were judged on grades, school activities and community involvement.
