SAN MARCOS : Driver Dies After Car Hits Light Pole
A Carlsbad man was killed when his car veered off the road Friday and crashed into a street light stanchion, authorities said.
Jeffrey Lawrence Jones, 40, who lived in the 3400 block of Camino Michelle, was driving south on Las Posas Road near Stone Drive in San Marcos when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of his car, said County Medical Examiner Investigator Chuck Bolten.
The 1992 Mercedes-Benz crossed the oncoming traffic lane and hit the light pole about 10:30 p.m., Bolten said. Jones, a sales manager for a financial services company in Solana Beach, was thrown from the vehicle, Bolten said. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
