ANAHEIM — A 37-year-old woman drowned in her back yard swimming pool Tuesday, authorities said.
The woman, whose name was withheld pending notification of her estranged husband, was discovered by her father about 4:50 p.m., lying face down at the deep end of the pool, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
The father, who had been living with his daughter, pulled her from the pool and tried unsuccessfully to revive her. Paramedics arrived a short time later to the home in the 1200 block of East Sycamore Street and declared the woman dead.
The father, whose name was not released, told authorities his daughter had been a good swimmer.
There was no indication of foul play or suicide, but a glass container filled with what was believed to be vodka was found near the pool, according to a coroner’s investigator. There also were no overt signs that the woman might have slipped and hit her head or suffered some other trauma that could have led to the drowning.
Investigator Richard McAnally said an autopsy would be conducted to determine whether natural causes, such as a heart attack or stroke, played a role in the drowning.
