On his first full day with the Miami Heat, power forward John Salley agreed to a long-term contract extension. The Heat obtained the 6-foot-11 Salley from the Detroit Pistons for a first-round draft choice and the rights to second-round draft pick Isaiah Morris.

Terms weren’t disclosed, but in June, just before the trade hit a hitch, Salley reportedly was close to a five-year, $15-million deal with Miami.
