LANCASTER : 2 Firefighters Hurt in 200-Acre Blaze
A 200-acre brush fire in Lancaster on Friday ignited a truck being used to fight the blaze and injured two firefighters who tried to save the vehicle, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
The blaze broke out about noon near 80th Street West and West Avenue I and was contained two hours later, said Devin Trone, a county fire inspector. More than 100 firefighters and a water-dumping helicopter battled the blaze.
Firefighter Clifton Brown was treated for smoke inhalation and first-degree burns to his face and legs, and Tommy Williams had first-degree burns on his face, said Dorothy Young, a spokeswoman for Antelope Valley Hospital.
