Ventura County sheriff’s deputies were investigating a stabbing incident Sunday night in Thousand Oaks that left a man critically wounded, authorities said.
The unidentified man was stabbed in the chest and abdomen about 7 p.m. and taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery, according to deputies and hospital officials.
Authorities said the victim appeared to be in his late teens or early 20s.
No arrests had been made by Sunday night, deputies said.
Ventura County Fire Capt. Leigh Husband said deputies and emergency workers found the man on the sidewalk at the corner of Hillcrest Drive and Avenida de la Plata, after they were called about the stabbing.
The victim had walked to the corner after being stabbed in a different location.
Husband said the stabbing is believed to be gang-related.
