Man Killed, Second Hurt in Shooting
A 40-year-old Victorville man was shot and killed Saturday night in an altercation that left a second man wounded, police said.
Ignacio Pineda Dimas was killed and Benito Pineda Pineda, 66, also of Victorville, was wounded at an Anaheim apartment in the 600 block of East Sycamore Street, according to Sgt. Michael Lopez. Pineda Pineda was reported in stable condition Sunday at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Police are seeking Miguel S. Benitez, 24, of Anaheim, as a suspect. Police said they were told that Benitez had gone to the apartment looking for his mother’s boyfriend. When Benitez entered the residence through the front door, the boyfriend, whom police did not identify, fled through the bedroom window. Several other people in the apartment tried to restrain Benitez, but he fired twice, hitting Dimas and Pineda, before fleeing on foot, police said.
