L.A. County Moves to Aid Business: In another effort to stimulate economic development in the beleaguered Southern California economy, representatives from business, cities and Los Angeles County formed three task forces to coordinate efforts to improve the region’s business climate. In response to a call by the county grand jury, the representatives met in an “economic summit” under the aegis of Los Angeles County Supervisor Deane Dana. They agreed to work together to pursue a wide-ranging agenda that includes reforming workers’ compensation, streamlining regulation, coordinating legislative action and attracting new business to the area. The task forces are to report back to Dana by the end of the year.
