HOLIDAY BOWL

Bowl President Richard Howard announced that the Dec. 30 football game has sold out for the seventh consecutive year, and for the third year in a row, the Holiday Bowl has sold its entire 40,000 allotment of tickets in September.

NCAA regulations mandate that the remaining 20,000 tickets be held for the participating teams, which will be the Western Athletic Conference champion and a Big Ten team. The games is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Jack Murphy Stadium. It is the 12th sellout in the 15-year history of the bowl.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

UC San Diego dropped a four-game match to Division II host UC Riverside, 15-10, 12-15, 15-6, 16-14. The Tritons (4-8) were paced by Laura Kranz’s nine kills. UCR (2-8) had 81 team kills to 26 for UCSD.
