IRVINE : Auto Exhibit to Aid Youth Counseling

Share

An exhibition of 130 antique and classic cars will take place at UC Irvine on Sunday as part of a fund-raiser for a youth counseling center.

The Newport Beach Concours D’Elegance raised $83,000 for the Assessment and Treatment Services Center for troubled youths last year. Sunday will mark the 10th annual Concours.

The event will feature Pierce-Arrows, Packards, Duesenbergs, Rolls-Royces and Maseratis, an automobile art exhibit and a “muscle car” display featuring Corvettes, Cameros and Mustangs. The cars will be judged in 14 classes ranging from antiques dating back to before 1916 to European sports cars to race cars.

While most of the cars will be older models or antiques, prototypes for future cars will also be on display at UCI’s Aldrich Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children 4 to 12. All proceeds benefit ATSC, a nonprofit organization that counsels abused children and children who get in trouble with the law. Most youths are referred to the group by police departments in Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Tustin and Irvine.
