LOS ANGELES : Billboard Space, Funds to Fight Graffiti Donated

Share

Two companies have joined the city’s anti-graffiti campaign by donating 300 billboards and contributing $2,000 to a reward fund for citizens who turn in graffiti vandals.

Officials from Gannett Outdoor and Patrick Media Group said 70 billboards emblazoned with the slogan “Take Back Your Neighborhood. Graffiti--Stop it Now” will go up immediately throughout the city. The remaining 230 billboards will be installed throughout the year as space becomes available.

In addition to the billboards and reward funds, Dunn & Edwards and Behr Paint Co. donated a total of 1,500 gallons of paint to the city’s paint bank. The paint will be used to cover up graffiti.

The city offers a $500 reward to residents who help authorities arrest graffiti vandals. The reward fund, recently replenished by the City Council with $25,000, is constantly in danger of running dry as more people become eligible.
