The Cleveland Browns made it 13 consecutive quarters--more than three games--without allowing a touchdown as they beat the Green Bay Packers, 17-6, Sunday behind Kevin Mack’s two touchdowns.

Although they are ranked 24th in the NFL defensively, yielding an average of 350 yards per game, the Browns (3-3) have repeatedly stopped opponents inside the 20 and have allowed a league-low six touchdowns.

It happened again when the Packers (2-4) got inside the Cleveland 30 five times but managed only six points.

“I think it’s something you can take pride in,” linebacker Clay Matthews said.

The Browns, concerned about their offense because quarterbacks Bernie Kosar and Todd Philcox are injured, won for the third time in four games by limiting the Packers to a pair of field goals by Chris Jacke.

The Packers lost defensive end Keith Millard because of a broken right hand in the second quarter.

Mack scored his 49th and 50th career touchdowns on short runs that capped the Browns’ first two possessions of the second half. Mike Tomczak and Eric Metcalf connected on a 30-yard completion to set up the first, and Lawyer Tillman helped set up the second with an 18-yard reception, his first catch since 1989. Tillman missed the last two seasons because of leg injuries.

Mack also was fresh, having returned last week from a pulled calf muscle that had sidelined him for the first four games. Eric Metcalf and rookie Tommy Vardell combined for 59 yards in 13 carries. Mack had 19 carries for 75 yards.
