Jordan Testifies Payoff Covered His Gambling

Michael Jordan testified in federal court that a $57,000 cashier’s check he gave to a suspected drug dealer covered gambling losses from a weekend of golf and poker at an exclusive South Carolina resort.

Jordan, an All-Star guard for the Chicago Bulls and a former University of North Carolina player, testified briefly during the money laundering and drug trial of James Bouler, 41.

The government claims Bouler used his role as a golfer as a front for his real job as a drug courier for cocaine kingpins Pee Wee Givens, who is dead, and Edward (Ned) Johnson, who is serving a 20-year drug sentence.

Jordan testified that when he gambled on golf with Bouler, the stakes ranged from $20 to $1,000 a hole.
