SAN DIEGO : Amtrak Adds 9th San Diegan Run
A ninth daily round-trip by Amtrak’s San Diegan will make its first run Sunday.
The addition fills a 3 1/2-hour gap in northbound service, and provides an 8 a.m. arrival in San Diego for southbound travelers, a California Department of Transportation official said Friday.
The first train leaves Los Angeles at 5:15 a.m., followed by trains at 6:45 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 9:50 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
The new departure schedule from San Diego is: 5:15 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 8:50 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
The afternoon schedules are unchanged.
The new daily service is paid for by Amtrak. Caltrans pays for four of the daily round-trips, the spokesman said.
