BURBANK : Disney Gives $25,000 for Museum Branch
Walt Disney Studios has donated $25,000 to a proposed Burbank branch of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County--the largest gift the fledging project has received.
T.J. Baptie, a spokeswoman for Burbank-based Disney, said she became interested in supporting the museum after she was asked by City Councilman Michael Hastings to serve on a committee raising money for the project.
The city hopes to open the museum branch next year and is committed to raising $300,000 for the facility, said Ron Shively, head of the fund-raising committee. The money will go for exhibits and operating costs.
“This is our first major gift this year, but we hope to get others,” Shively said. “We’re accepting any donations we can get--from $25 to $25,000.”
