Body Found on Freeway Identified

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has identified a man whose body was found on the Golden State Freeway near Castaic Saturday morning as Robert Kizner, 40, of El Cajon.

Kizner’s body was found on the freeway in the second lane of traffic by Palms resident Steven Castorena, who said he and his brothers spotted it on the way home from a fishing trip about 1 a.m.

“Cars were just passing by--no one was stopping or anything,” said Castorena, who said he initially thought the body was a dummy put in the road as a Halloween prank. After an autopsy Sunday, the coroner’s office determined the cause of death to be multiple traumatic injuries suffered from the impact of passing cars, Investigations Supervisor Michael Riddle said.
