An 18-year-old woman died Sunday night after the truck she was driving collided head-on with another pickup, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Michelle Charlene Budsberg, a student from Temecula, was freed from her crushed pickup by a “jaws of life” device and taken by Life Flight helicopter to Palomar Medical Center, where she died, a county medical examiner’s spokesman said.
Witnesses told the CHP that Budsberg was traveling east on California 76, just east of North River Road, when her truck crossed the double-yellow line and hit a westbound truck.
The driver of the other vehicle, Kevin Flaherty, 39, of Irvine, was not injured, officials said.
