CANYON COUNTRY : Boy, 12, Killed in Traffic Accident
A 12-year-old boy was fatally injured Wednesday when he was struck by two cars as he crossed a Canyon Country intersection, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The boy was identified as Leonard Cortez of Canyon Country, said L. Shelton, an investigating supervisor with the county coroner’s office.
The youth was crossing against a red light on Soledad Canyon Road at Langside Avenue about 3 p.m. when he was struck by two cars traveling west on Soledad Canyon Road, Sgt. Richard Lichten said.
The boy was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, where he died about 40 minutes later, Lichten said.
