Madison 27, Hoover 20--Fred Brooks scored his third touchdowns with 25 seconds left to lift Madison (3-6, 1-3) to a come-from-behind victory. Jason Folnsbee rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns for Hoover (0-8, 0-4).

Serra 28, San Diego 14--Billy Dill rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns for Serra (3-6, 3-1), which also got a 42-yard scoring pass from Lonny Mitchell to Shammar Wayne. Chris Bell had 12 tackles for Serra. San Diego fell to 4-5, 1-3.

City Eastern League

Point Loma 33, Patrick Henry 6--Jamie Crossley had seven tackles and three assists for Point Loma (5-4, 2-0). Quarterback Ben White was 14 of 27 for 119 yards and two touchdowns. The Pointers’ Jacques Ballard had three receptions for 40 yards.

City Harbor League

St. Augustine 38, Coronado 7--St. Augustine (8-1, 3-0) clinched at least a tie for the league title with the rout of Coronado (5-4, 2-1). Saints quarterback Aaron Buckner was 12 of 22 for 218 yards, including four touchdowns passes. Saints rushed 37 times for 177 yards and had 395 total yards.

Marian 26, Clairemont 6--Ian Sutlick rushed 15 times for 137 yards, including a scoring run of 61 yards for Marian (6-3, 2-2). Quarterback Rick Trejo passed for 120 yards and one touchdown. Clairemont is 1-8, 0-3.

Avocado League

Oceanside 39, Carlsbad 15--Chris Hamer rushed 18 times for 235 yards, including touchdowns of 88 and 77 yards, to lead Oceanside (5-4, 4-2). Carlsbad is 3-6, 2-4).

Torrey Pines 32, San Marcos 7--Quarterback Gavin Hamels had a big night while starter Ryan Lynch sat out his suspension. Hamels threw four touchdown passes, two to Kyle Campbell and two to Joel Brown.

Escondido 23, Ramona 6--Vu Dang, who suffered a serious head injury last month, made his first appearance since being released from the hospital this week and inspired his teammates with a pregame speech. Mike Frank, one of Dang’s closest teammates, had a hand in every Cougar scoring play. He scored on runs of three and nine yards, passed to Rob Ramos for a 26-yard touchdown and kicked a 26-yard field goal.

Grossmont 3-A League

Helix 17, Monte Vista 12--Top-ranked Helix jumped to a 17-0 lead in the fourth quarter when the Highlanders faked a punt and Robert Crayton ran it back 32 yards to set up Chris Baker’s six-yard touchdown run. Teneil Ethridge rushed 18 times for 103 yards doe Helix (9-0, 3-0).

Grossmont 2-A League

El Capitan 41, Valhalla 21--Eric Rockhold rushed for 137 yards and teammate James Hopkins added 107 to pace No. 6 El Capitan (8-1, 3-0). Valhalla is 3-6, 1-2.

Metro Conference

Montgomery 28, Mar Vista 0--Chris Weaver rushed for 42 yards and completed eight of 15 passes for 155 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown pass to pace Montgomery (5-3-1, 4-2). Verduzco caught three balls for 76 yards, and teammate Tommy Conner scored two touchdowns on a three-yard run and a 51-yard interception return. The Aztecs held Mar Vista (2-7, 0-6) to 47 total yards, 11 rushing.

Bonita Vista 20, Southwest 13--Bonita Vista’s Brian Melancon rushed 17 times for 60 yards and one touchdown, giving him 1,001 yards, and teammate Scott Shields had a 51-yard interception. The Barons (6-3, 4-2) also limited Southwest quarterback O’Brian Woods to 114 yards on eight-of-27 passing. John Cotton had three receptions for 59 yards and Tony Diaz three for 45 for the Raiders (5-4, 3-3).

Castle Park 26, Chula Vista 19--Anthony Davis rushed for 231 yards on 29 carries and caught three passes for 64 yards, and his 80-yard fourth-quarter touchdown run gave the Trojans (7-2, 4-2) breathing room. Rick Haley’s one-yard run and 10-yard scoring pass from Joe Zander (169 passing yards) for the Spartans (5-2-2, 4-1-1) had made the score 20-19, Castle Park.

Palomar League

Vista 22, Fallbrook 22--After four attempts to move into sole possession of 10th place on the all-time national victory list, Vista Coach Dick Haines was handed his first tie in 22 years at Vista and is now 308-111-12 in 41 season overall. Vista (4-4-1, 2-3-1) is 0-3-1 in its four games since Haines tied Walter S. Brooks for 10th place. Fallbrook is 5-3-1, 2-3-1.

Orange Glen 35, Rancho Bernardo 11--The Broncos (4-5, 1-5) stayed close until Dan Mello returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown to make it 14-10, Patriots. Then Orange Glen (6-3, 4-2) put up 21 unanswered points. The Pats were keyed by Joaquin Randall’s three touchdowns and 191 yards rushing on 29 carries.

Eight-man Coastal League

Julian 35, Santa Fe Christian 29--Steve Lara made a spectacular interception with 58 seconds left to preserve the victory for Julian (7-1, 3-1). Cory Burnett (23 carries, 177 yards, two touchdowns), Frankie Stewart (11, 106, 2) and Anthony Howard (19, 94, 1) were the rushing stars. Santa Fe Christian fell to 2-7, 1-3.

Francis Parker 25, La Jolla Country Day 22--Scott Schneider added four touchdown passes to improve his total to 45 for Francis Parker (5-4, 3-1). Trigger Reital scored on a 79-yard kickoff return and a seven-yard run for LJCD (3-4, 3-1).

Bishop’s 45, Borrego Springs 0--Gerald Anderson scored three touchdown, and Eric Saycocie recovered two fumbles and had three sacks for Bishop’s (3-4, 2-2).

Nonleague

University City 55, Christian 3--Paul Turner and Ed Miller scored two touchdowns, and Daranzol Sheppard was four of seven for 57 passing yards and one touchdown.

Mira Mesa 12, La Jolla 7--Rick Jackson’s interception and 60 return for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter broke the Vikings’ 7-6 lead. Mira Mesa (4-5) also scored on a 19-yard pass from Mike Nelson to Chris Lilly. La Jolla (1-7-1) scored first on Jason Green’s 66-yard pass to Trenell Bento.
